|Prairies||PRAIRIES is the new and sixth SFX library from our series of high quality and amazing nature recordings by Emmy-winner and nature recording genius Gordon Hempton. Hempton has searched the globe for more than three decades to record nature at its most pristine.
Prairies are among the most efficient bio-acoustic systems in the world for converting the sun’s energy into sound. Because the day is often windy (which interferes with clear sound propagation), species had to evolve a song structure for increased recognition under windy conditions which you’ll only find under these circumstances.
This library supports your potential: with more than 5 GB exceeding 5 hrs and a total of 105 files of high-quality material, you’ll surely find what you need when your project calls for stunning spacious acoustic impressions of wide fields.
The collected bio-acoustic treasure of PRAIRIES includes for instance various indigenous animals such as a wide spectrum of songful birds, buzzing insects, howling coyotes or chirping prairie-dogs. The PRAIRIES library naturally also comes with a generous range of wind recordings: gusting, blustering, softly blowing, breezing, roaring through the typical vegetation of this area. As special features, the library holds weather phenomenon recordings of grass fire and distant thunder rolling in.
The Soundminer Metadata has notes on species ID, when to use, and geographic location.
|Galapagos Islands||Back in 2011, my wife and I took a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Naturally, I at least brought a little recorder with me. 😉
I brought back a small set of recordings as souvenirs, and I decided to share them with the community through my blog. They’re still free for all who are interested, and you can download them simply by adding them to your cart below.

|Stately Museums||The Smithsonian is quite possibly the largest network of museums in the world. It’s facilities can be found scattered throughout the Washington, DC, area, but it is the museums on the National Mall and the Zoo in Adams Morgan that attract the most visitors. Each building has its own distinctive sound; both when open and closed. None of them are ever truly empty though, and the sparse and occasional sounds of voices and activity that can be heard in the museums when they are closed to the public gives a distinctly different impression. The Zoo provides its own unique backdrop, being a space devoted to nature in the center of urban sprawl. When was the last time you heard wolves howling amidst the sound of a city’s hum? You can here!
This library includes sounds from the Museum of Natural History, Museum of American History, Museum of Air and Space, Museum of the American Indian, The Freer Gallery, the subterranean exhibits of the Sackler Gallery and the Museum of African Art, the Administrative Ripley Center, and the National Zoo. All told, three and a half hours of unique ambiences!
|Unseen Noises||Electromagnetic informations are invisible and omnipresent. In every city, especially the big ones, an infinite number of electromagnetic waves is hidden: we can’t hear them, but they’re everywhere! Unseen Noises explores the “invisible” noise pollution transducing electromagnetic fields into audio signals with a telephone pickup: It acts like a radio antenna for hum and weird electromagnetic noises.||Unidentified Sound Object||40||2.43||√||Sound Design||€40.00||48||24||Unknown||40||WAV||Soundminer (Includes BWAV)|
