|Typewriters||On its face, REA_014 is a diverse collection of typewriters spanning over 80 years of mechanical innovation, from the turn of the century to the mid–1970s. The seven typewriters provide source material to cover most of your secretarial needs. In addition to the library’s obvious usage, there are endless mechanical possibilities. Recorded at 192kHz, each sound is ideally suited to exploit pitch shifting. Play these machines at half speed and feel the heft of real craftsmanship: the torque and thud of the hammer’s blow, the carriage return’s zipper-like windup.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||3.85||Machinery||$70.00||192||24||–||–||–||–|
|Small Motors||Small Motors. Clicking, whirring, buzzing, grinding, servo sounds and robots. This library is composed of a variety of motor sounds from everyday kitchen appliances and power tools, but it also includes a real robot, whom I found not far from where I live in Brooklyn.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||1.27||Machinery||$50.00||96||24||–||–||–||–|
|Rockets 2: Static Burns||Back in 2004, REA_001 Rockets began our obsession with dry propellant and rocket launches, and we quickly became addicted to the sounds of clicking igniters and pure propellant combustion.
With REA_016 Rockets 2: Static Burns we reprise the collection with a bit of a twist: we left out the rockets! Instead of soaring ballistics, we decided to just burn the motors. A frequent request of the REA_001 release was for sustained, steady state burns. This collection more than addresses that need.

|Rockets||Amateur rockets. When you first hear those words, an image of little Jimmy in the backyard launching a tiny rocket comes to mind. Forget little Jimmy and, instead, imagine adults building high-powered rockets in their free time and launching them in remote locations. The rockets come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and are remarkably sophisticated considering NASA is not involved in their production.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||0.227||Fire||$70.00||96||24||–||–||–||–|

|Metal Machines||Shake, Rattle, and Rumble. Those are just a few of the sounds that heavy machinery makes when it is fired up and put into action. The age of the steam locomotive has long faded in the United States, but the tools used to maintain them, rebuild them, and fabricate new parts are very much alive.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||4.07||Metal||$80.00||96 & 192||24||–||–||–||–|

|Bells||Bronze, brass, chrome, gold, stainless steel, and steel are just some of the materials that forged this library. We spent a day at one of the few remaining bell foundries in the United States and we rang bells until our ears nearly fell off. We hit them with mallets, clappers, and shook them with our bare hands. We also spent time on an old barge and percussion rental facility for rare and unusual bells.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||4.76||Bell, Horn||$70.00||96 & 192||24||–||–||–||–|
|Antique Engines||REA_009 is a collection of stationary antique engines (both steam and gas) that were used for DC power generation. At the turn of the century before electricity was widely available, these engines were used to provide energy to water plants, factories, farms, and just about anything that needed power. These contraptions are a gold mine of mechanical sounds: steam chuffs, exhaust puffs, whirrs, whines, and bangs.||Rabbit Ears Audio||0||9.63||Machinery||$85.00||96 & 192||24||–||–||–||–|
