Recorded over a five year period at 24-Bit 96kHz in a multitude of dirty, dusty, smelly, noisy, dangerous and physically grueling locations. Some of the session locations were a office building being torn down, a house being ripped apart, a metal recycling plant and a junk yard. My JD tractor and my one acre outdoor foley area were also used extensively. There are no heavily processed sound effects here (except the explosions), just the real life destruction action as it happened. Many of the tracks were recorded with multiple extended frequency response microphones at close, medium and distant perspectives. Each category was recorded separately to give you, the sound designer the freedom to layer and process each type of sound individually for the most creative options. Extra long tracks of debris dumps and movements were recorded using concrete, glass, wood and metal so you have enough length to create the ultimate crash sequence. The majority of the sound effects were recorded outside in a natural environment with no room reflections. Other crazy sounds include: objects thrown into a huge dumpster, an axe thrown against a ceiling light fixture, excavator metal bucket hits, construction trash bin foley and much more. With this collection your creative options for designing high impact destruction soundscapes for your productions are nearly limitless. |Ultimate Ice||Ultimate Ice HD Professional Sound Effects Library contains a whopping 715 cracks, impacts, scrapes, rubs, tension and icicle debris sounds. Recorded at 24-Bit 96kHz and over 4 freaking cold North Idaho winters in the making this new professional sound library will give you the chills.
Ice has tons of character depending on how cold the environment is. It can sound brittle, crunchy, solid, wet and like glass. It has many uses in audio production for video games, film and television but is most useful for keeping your beer cold.
As a naturally occurring crystalline inorganic solid with an ordered structure, ice is considered a mineral. It possesses a regular crystalline structure based on the molecule of water, which consists of a single oxygen atom covalently bonded to two hydrogen atoms, or H-O-H. However, many of the physical properties of water and ice are controlled by the formation of hydrogen bonds between adjacent oxygen and hydrogen atoms. It is a weak bond, but is critical in controlling the structure of both water and ice.
Ice is one of the sound sources I’ve used the most in the video games I’ve worked on. Whether it was for magic spells, fantasy weapons, impacts, or ice caves, I never had enough ice source material. After spending years trying to design fresh, new ice-based sound effects using the same old library sounds (and man, sometimes it was not easy), I decided it was time to create my own personal collection.
I started recording ice soon after I moved to North Idaho in 1997. Living up here in the middle of nowhere gives me the ability to record lots of ice and snow. We have six very long months of winter so I am always at the ready to run outside very early in the morning to record the latest overnight ice formations (even in my bathrobe if I have to).

|Ultimate Ice 2||Presenting Ultimate Ice 2 HD Professional Sound Effects Library, the long awaited sequel to Ultimate Ice HD Pro. Recorded over a three month period on the pristine ponds and lakes in North Idaho. This collection was captured with crystal clear detail at 24-Bit 96kHz with the extended frequency range Sennheiser MKH-8040ST XY microphone setup. From the smallest breaks to huge dispersion cracks across lakes hundreds of acres in size, this collection is sure to come in handy on your next “winter” sound design project. All kinds and thicknesses of ice was recorded and at many different temperatures. It was kicked, cracked, hit with a sledgehammer, crushed into itself and smacked with heavy chunks of ice. Ice debris was dropped and tossed around at many locations for a unbeatable, multiple take set of crash effects. When all these styles of frozen water and air vapor are pitched around with your favorite audio mangling tool, you will be amazed at the broad spectrum of sounds that can be created with the ultra high frequency response of the microphones. Also included is a generous selection of heavy boots walking, running, stomping and sliding on thick ice.The extreme low frequency nature of some of these ice recordings are perfect for LFE tracks and as additional elements layered in with higher pitch cracks.Recorded above the ice with a Sennheiser MKH-8040ST microphone rig to capture the large ice temperature fluctuations like the MKH-8040ST can do very well… way down below 20Hz.||The Recordist||143||1.01||√||Ice, Snow||$75.00||96||24||Unknown||365||WAV||Soundminer v4|

|Ultimate Snow 2||Ultimate Snow 2 HD Professional Sound Effects Library is a reissue of Snowfall HD and Snowballs HD Ultra together in one collection with a few new sounds included. Recorded over the 2010-2011 winter season here in beautiful North Idaho, this 24-bit 96kHz collection contains 94 multi-take Broadcast WAV files totaling 425 individual snow sounds. There are a wide variety of snow falling sounds recorded in some seriously freezing weather conditions. I recorded dozens of takes of snow falling off trees, numerous powder snow impacts and granular snow debris drops off my back porch. My porch has a 20 foot height so the snow had plenty of time to disperse and impact on the ground in a very graceful way.I also fired up the John Deere tractor and dumped massive chunks of snow from the bucket with the engine off. They were quite frozen and when they hit the ground they burst into a million pieces. The snowball sound effects were captured in many types of snow conditions. Wet, dry, normal cold and extremely frigid snowballs were dropped, hit, kicked, rolled, slid, rubbed, scraped and crushed along with very big chunks of snow dropped from my trusty JD tractor.Highlights include: Large heavy snowball impacts, movements on very dry cold snow pack and falling down snowbanks. Some of the intense tension rubs and squeaks make for perfect avalanche and snow glaciers breaking apart. Medium and small snowballs are also included and round out this diverse collection of snowball effects.||The Recordist||94||0.448||√||Ice, Snow||$75.00||96||24||Unknown||425||WAV||Soundminer v4|

I also employed my trusty JD tractor and dumped various amounts of water onto the ground and into bodies of water. I wish I could have thrown my own body into the water but at the time it didn’t seem like a good idea. Also included are many foley actions.
